Privacy Policy
We've written this to be readable, not to bury the important stuff in legalese. Last updated: March 2026.
What we collect
When you RSVP to a gathering
We ask for:
- Name — so the organizer knows who's coming
- Email address — so the organizer can reach you about the event
- Job title — to help the group understand who's attending
- Company — same reason
We do not require an account to RSVP. We do not collect payment information. We do not use tracking cookies or analytics on RSVP submissions.
When you apply to start a group
We collect your name (via account creation after approval), email address, and the details of your proposed group. This is used to review your application and, if approved, to give you access to manage your group.
When you create an account (group organizers only)
Attendees do not need accounts. Group organizers create an account with their name and email address. We store a hashed password — we never store your password in plain text and we cannot recover it.
How we use it
We use the information we collect to:
- Manage RSVPs and track event capacity
- Allow group organizers to know who is attending their events
- Send you information about the specific event you RSVPed for (if the organizer chooses to contact attendees)
- Operate the DevRel(ish) platform
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for any purpose unrelated to organizing DevRel(ish) gatherings.
Who sees your information
Group organizers
The organizer of the gathering you RSVP for can see your name, email, job title, and company. They can download this list in order to manage attendance and communicate with attendees. See Organizer rules below for how they're permitted to use it.
DevRel(ish) administrators
Site administrators can access RSVP data for the purpose of operating and moderating the platform.
No one else
We don't share your personal information with any third-party services, data brokers, sponsors, or other organizations.
Organizer rules for attendee data
Group organizers agree to the following when they apply to run a DevRel(ish) group. Violations may result in removal from the platform.
✓ Organizers may
- Contact attendees about the specific event they RSVPed for — logistics, location changes, cancellations, and so on
- Add attendees to a mailing list for the group's future events, provided they provide an easy way to unsubscribe
- Share aggregate, anonymized information (e.g. "we had 40 attendees, mostly developer advocates") without identifying individuals
✗ Organizers may not
- Use attendee contact information to market products, services, or anything unrelated to their DevRel(ish) group's events
- Send unsolicited bulk email (spam) of any kind
- Share, sell, or transfer the attendee list to any third party, including event sponsors, employers, or other organizations
- Retain attendee data beyond what is reasonably needed to operate the group
- Use the data for any purpose other than organizing in-person social events for their DevRel(ish) group
If you believe an organizer has misused your contact information, please contact us at admin@devrelish.tech and we will investigate and take action.
Data retention
RSVP data is retained and accessible to the organizer for as long as the associated group remains active on the platform. Once the group is removed, the RSVP data is no longer accessible to the organizer.
Group organizer accounts are retained until the organizer requests deletion or the group is removed from the platform.
You can request deletion of your RSVP record at any time by emailing admin@devrelish.tech with the email address you used to RSVP.
Your rights
Regardless of where you are in the world, you can:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your RSVP records or account
- Object to a specific use of your data — for example, if an organizer is contacting you in a way that violates the rules above
To exercise any of these rights, email admin@devrelish.tech. We'll respond within 30 days.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
